About
One person,
the whole way through.
I'm Mitchell Martin, a Perth wedding singer, DJ and MC. One act, from the first guest arriving to the last song of the night.

The short version
How this came about.
I studied music at WAAPA and have been performing professionally for more than a decade. Along the way there has been touring around Western Australia, live slots on Telethon, performing at an AFL game at Optus Stadium, and a few million streams across Spotify and YouTube. I still think of myself as a musician first. Weddings are just where the music ended up.
They started as one more place to play. What kept happening was that I would be booked for the ceremony & cocktail hour, and couples would ask whether I could stay on to DJ and then handle the announcements as well.
So I learnt all three services properly. Six years and more than four hundred full-day weddings later, it's still the thing couples tell me made the biggest difference. Not just that they loved the music, but that only one person had to be trusted with it.
What "one act" actually means
Three jobs, done properly.
- 01
Live music
Vocals and guitar
Guest arrival, the aisle, the signing, the exit, cocktail hour, and the early part of your reception. Arrangements built for the room and the moment rather than played at it. A song that has to land as someone walks down the aisle is a different job from a song that has to fill a courtyard while people find their drinks.
- 02
DJ
The dance floor
The songs you can't do without come from you. What order they arrive in comes from the room. I don't lock a set in beforehand, because what works at nine and what works at eleven are almost never the same songs.
- 03
MC
Running the night
Announcements, introductions, and the quiet timing decisions that keep a reception from stalling. I'll either run it myself or support whichever friend you've talked into it, so nobody in your family has to hold a microphone unless they'd genuinely like to.
Before the day
The part nobody puts on a website.
Couples mention our planning documents in reviews more often than they mention the music. That's not an accident. It's the bit that decides whether the day feels calm.
After you book
You get two documents: a Music Document for your song choices and a Runsheet for your timings. They're plain, simple forms, not a questionnaire marathon, and they're yours to fill in whenever suits.
Three months out
Music Document due. This is where your ceremony songs, your special request, and the shape of your dance floor get settled. I'll learn your request properly so it's perfected when the day arrives to perform it live.
One month out
Runsheet due. Timings, formalities, names and pronunciations, who's speaking and when. By the day itself everything's planned to flow seamlessly.
On the day
I arrive early, set up quietly, and stay for the whole thing. One person, one set-up, no changeover, no handover.
Not a one-man band
You'll hear from Abbey too.
My wife Abbey runs everything that isn't the music: enquiries, contracts, documents and reminders. She also assists me with answering the steady stream of small questions that come up between booking and the day itself.
Between us we also direct Wedding Music Perth, an agency of hand-picked Perth musicians and DJs. The awards and the five-star reviews are the agency's, earned across every act on the roster. Running it is also why the planning behind your booking is a proper system rather than something improvised each time.
If you book me, you get both of us.

Recognition
2025, a good year.
Both the ABIA and the Wedding Industry Awards are decided by votes from real couples after their weddings, not by a panel.
